RGV CPR offers American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid/CPR AED  instructor training for you to either instruct and certify employees at your workplace or to start your own full/part-time business training and certifying others in lifesaving skills. As an AHA Heartsaver Instructor, you can teach and certify in the following courses:

 

  • CPR AED/First Aid - Who needs this: personal trainers, fitness professionals, athletic coaches, providers, oilfield workers, construction and other industrial workers

  • Pediatric First Aid CPR, AED - Who needs this: childcare workers, foster parents and new parents

  • Bloodborne Pathogens - Who needs this: tatoo artists, hotel housecleaning, industrial workers

 

Please note that Heartsaver instructors are not eligible to certify medical professionals in BLS (basic life support). If you are interested in certifying in both Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED and BLS, you will need to be certified as an AHA BLS Instructor.  Please click here if BLS Instructor is the course you are interested in.

 

Prerequisites To Taking The Heartsaver Instructor Course

  • Hold a current AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED certification. If you currently do not hold a Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED certification, you can register for a class with us here.

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

Comprehensive Heartsaver Instructor Course

The American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver Instructor Course, designed in a three-part format to prepare you for success as an instructor:

  1. Online Learning: Begin with the interactive Heartsaver Instructor Essentials course, providing a comprehensive overview of the Heartsaver curriculum.

  2. Instructor Class - Day 1 (8 hours): Participate in a hands-on session led by an AHA Instructor Trainer, focusing on advanced course knowledge, teaching practice, and key AHA, Training Center policies and end-of-class exam.

  3. Instructor Class - Day 2 (4 hours): Be monitored teaching your first class:

    • The 2nd day, you will be required to teach a section of the Heartsaver class.

Class Time - Day 1: is 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Day 2: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • Fri.  April 2, 2025 (last day to register is 3/19/25)

  • Fri./Sat. May 9 - 10, 2025 (last day to register 4/25/25)

  • Fri./Sat. July 11 - 12, 2025 (last day to register 6/27/25)

  • Fri./Sat. September 12 - 13, 2025 (last day to register 8/29/25)

  • Fri./Sat. November 14 - 15, 2025 (last day to register 10/31/25)
